Dear Colleagues,
The 2017 Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference, together with the 24th Symposium on Room-Temperature X- and Gamma-Ray Detectors will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia, from October 21st to October 28th.
The program chairs have compiled an exciting and comprehensive program highlighting many state-of-the-art scientific and technological advances. The subjects covered are listed in each technical program and we encourage you to check these and to submit your abstract related to the topic of interest. Sharing research and experiences and openly discussing problems will be strongly encouraged in all scientific sessions and in the hallways or seating areas during the breaks. Interdisciplinary research will be given a special emphasis in the Tuesday joint sessions.
Such a multidisciplinary flavor offers an excellent opportunity for students and postdoctoral fellows to learn about related work. Their presence at this meeting is indeed almost a right-of-passage for a student in his or her research career as they have an opportunity to interact and learn from world-wide experts in the field. We will provide as much student support as possible to make this unique scientific and educational experience more easily accessible. Not only can early scientists apply for grants, there are other Awards available listed on our website. As in past years the educational content of the conference will be enhanced by special focus workshops and educational seminars.
An exhibition area central to conference activities will display the latest in products and innovation. This area will be located in the Grand Hall together with the poster sessions and coffee breaks, and will provide ample space to give our scientists and engineers the chance to chat with each other and the exhibitor representatives.
Atlanta is the capital of Georgia and the state’s largest city. The conference hotel is located downtown in the heart of the dining and entertainment center and a convenient walk to Centennial Park, the Georgia Aquarium, New World of Coke, Phillips Arena, and the Georgia Dome. With a flair for the arts, Atlanta offers visitors and residents a wide selection of museums, classical music venues, and a thriving theatre scene. The hotel is less than 2 miles from the brand new “Atlantic Station,” featuring 138 acres of residential, retail, dinning, shopping and nightlife. In addition, The Hyatt Regency Atlanta is attached to Peachtree Center (mini mall) and the Peachtree Center MARTA (light rail) station. The conference venue is only 15 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport using the low-cost MARTA.
The conference has always been a place where fruitful collaborations have begun, friendships made, and outstanding science and innovation have been brought together in a relaxed atmosphere. The entire organization committee is working hard to support this spirit with an attractive, excellent program and organization. Driven by the scientific contribution of the attendees we are certain to have a successful and exciting conference week.
On behalf of the entire organizing committee, I would like to sincerely welcome you to the 2017 IEEE NSS/MIC and RTSD.
