Submitting Papers
Detailed guidlines are on the author instructions page. In a nutshell, please submit papers via the customary Paperplaza process. Make sure to follow the format guidelines, available as LaTeX and MS Word templates on Paperplaza. Papers should be 6 pages in length, and we can accommodate up to 2 extra pages at a cost of USD 185 per extra page. A selected number of papers will be carefully chosen by the program committee for interactive multimedia presentation, in addition to a brief talk during a regular session.
All papers are reviewed using a single-blind review process: authors declare their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers do not know each other's identities, nor do the authors receive information about who has reviewed their manuscript.
Proposing Symposia, Workshops, and Tutorials
In addition to the usual workshops and tutorials, the conference will feature 12 special symposia (organized sessions) celebrating 50 years of robotics.
Each symposium will consist of regular papers associated with a specific subfield of robotics. Symposia proposals have to be submitted as "Invited Sessions" via Paperplaza. They are then reviewed by the program committee. Once approved, authors can submit their symposium paper as an "Invited Paper" to Paperplaza, following the regular paper guidelines. This is why people who desire to organize symposa (invited sessions) need to submit their proposals 15 days before the deadline for paper submission. Papers submitted to symposia (invited sessions) are reviewed exactly like all the other papers. Further information is on the symposia page.
Workshops and tutorials take place before and/or after the regular technical part of the conference. Workshops provide an informal forum for participants in an active research area. Tutorials target more established research areas and provide insights to the state of the art, presented by recognized researchers in the field. Workshop and tutorial proposals are submitted via the customary Paperplaza process and reviewed by the workshops & tutorials committee. Detailed guidelines are on the workshops and tutorials page.
Exhibits and Robot Demonstrations
In addition to the customary exhibition, IROS 2011 will feature an open demonstration area where conference participants can show demos of their work. Please see the sponorship and exhibits page and the demonstrations page.
