Visit of Professor Alberto Berizzi
Prof. Alberto Berizzi
from Politecnico di Milano was invited to University “Politehnica” of Bucharest
on 18 January 2006 to deliver the lecture “The Italian blackout, Sunday Sept.
28th, 2003”. A brief presentation was published in “Region 8 News”.

Celebration of the OCA award
For the activities
performed in 2005, IEEE Romania PES Chapter was the winner of the Outstanding Small
Chapter Award. Majority of members met together to celebrate on 6 July 2006
this event.

Student trip
University
“Politehnica” of Bucharest organized for the second year consecutively a
student trip at some thermo- and hydro- power plants in Romania. The participants
were students in power systems specialization.
The trip was organized between 11th and 16th of
July 2006.

Energetics of buildings
An older collaborator
of our chapter, Mr. Jean-Marc Revaz, from Centre Energetique et Municipales
of Martigny, Switzerland, was invited on 22 September 2006 at University
“Politehnica” of Bucharest to deliver to practicing engineers and students a
lecture on “Energetics of buildings”. |

Visit of Professor Alexander Petroieanu
Prof. Alexander
Petroianu, from University of Cape Town, South Africa, was invited, on 19
October 2006, at University “Politehnica” of Bucharest, to deliver the lecture
“Application of affine geometry in power systems”. The event was well attended
by students and practicing engineers. |
Promoting renewable energy sources in Romania
An
workshop was
organized on 23 October 2006 at University “Politehnica” of
Bucharest relating “Promoting renewable energy sources in
Romania”. Two presentations were delivered by Prof. Gianfranco
Chicco, from Politecnico di Torino, and Prof. Petru
Postolache, from University “Politehnica” of Bucharest. |

presentation was held on 24 October 2006 at University “Politehnica” of
Bucharest concerning “Successful collaboration between Politecnico di
Torino and University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest” where Prof. Gianfranco
Chicco, from Politecnico di Torino, was invited. |
Open doors to promote young researchers
Under the name “Open
doors to promote young researchers”, which is the 4th edition, Dr.
ing. Eugen Popescu presented on 25 October 2006 the work “The study of the
current disconnection transient process in circuits with abnormal regimes” for
the students from University “Politehnica” of Bucharest. This event is
organized in such manner to show the students how a subject should be
approached. |
Intelligent electrical networks
On 9 November 2006,
Prof. Mircea Eremia presented at University “Politehnica” of Bucharest the
lecture “Intelligent electrical networks” where practicing engineers and
students attended. |
International Conference on Modern Power Systems
IEEE Romania PES
Chapter co-organized the 1st edition of the International Conference
on “Modern Power Systems” held on 22-24 November 2006 at Technical University
of Cluj-Napoca. |
Distribution DC networks for industrial applications
A workshop was
organized on 25 November 2006 at University “Politehnica” of Bucharest with
academic staff from several universities from Romania. Prof. Razvan Magureanu
presented the lecture “Distribution DC networks for industrial applications”
and As.Prof. Lucian Toma presented the lecture “Level integrated systems – a
new vision of power networks”. |
