Invitation of Mr. Jean-Marc Revaz

Mr. Jean-Marc Revaz, from Centre Energetique et Municipales of Martigny, Switzerland, was invited at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest to deliver to students lectures for the third consecutive year. The two lectures are:
Introduction a l'urbistique: energie et environnement urbains, on 3rd of May
Situation de l'industrie electrique europeenne dans un marche ouvert, on the 4th of May

Student contests

Two student paper contests were organized at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, which benefited of a large participation with papers.
The best student paper award: Electrical Power Systems, on May 19th
The best student paper award: Optimizations and Power Market, on May 25th

Student trip

University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest organized for the third consecutive year a student trip at some substations and thermo- and hydro- power plants in Romania. The participants were students in power systems specialization.  The trip was organized between 9th and 13th of July 2007.

International Summer School

University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest and Politecnico di Torino have organized at Power Engineering Faculty, Bucharest, in the period 23-31 July 2007, the international Summer School on Sustainable Development of the Future Power Systems. The programme can be find at IRIDE Summer School.

Power System Conference 2007, Timisoara

The 7th edition of the Power Systems Conference - PSC 2007 was held at University POLITEHNICA of Timisoara, between November 21st and 23rd, 2007.
IEEE-PES members were directly involved in organizing the conference. The event attracted a wide range of participants coming from all sectors of electrical engineering. The conference gave an excellent opportunity for academic staff members and engineers from industry to share their researches and concerns. The conference joined once again the industry and education.

International Conference on Energy and Environment - CIEM 2007, Bucharest

IEEE-PES Romania Chapter co-organized the International Conference on Energy and Environment - CIEM 2007 held at Power Engineering Faculty from University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, in the period November 22th  - November 23th. The conference was focused on industry applications, a large number of engineers submitted papers on improved environment protection and other fields and policies liable to influence / protect the environment.

Visit of Professor Yvon Besanger

Prof. Yvon Besanger from Institut National Politechnique de Grenoble was invited at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest in the period 25 - 29 November 2007. Prof. Besanger held a talk for students in power systems presenting researches developed at INPG in which Romanian students have been also involved.

Applications of artificial techniques in power systems

Mr. Nicolae Pinte held a talk on 6th of October 2007, at Power Engineering Faculty – University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, on Theory of Information Species. The presentation was well attended by academic staff members. Applications of artificial intelligence techniques for various industrial cases, especially for transformer protection and distribution network protection, were presented. The presentation was part of the launching program of the book Theory of Information Species.

Outstanding Engineer Award 2007

Within the meeting on 20th of December, Dr. George Florea as awarded “Outstanding Engineer Award” for contributions to the design and construction of overhead transmission lines.
