Paper Submission

All papers must be written in English and submitted electronically in PDF format via PaperPlaza. Papers submitted to IROS 2016 will undergo a peer-reviewing process. Manuscripts will be reviewed by at least two reviewers, who will give detailed comments. Authors of accepted submissions will be entitled to submit a revised (“camera-ready”) version that takes into account the feedback provided by the reviewers. The reviewing process will be managed by the IROS Conference Paper Review Board.

All papers are reviewed using a single-blind reviewing process: authors declare their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers do not know each other's identities, nor do the authors receive information about who have reviewed their manuscript.

IROS 2016 provides authors with four options to present their paper and gives them the possibility of choosing their preferences. The IROS 2016 Senior Program Committee, which is in charge of making the final decisions about accepted papers and presentation modes, will try to respect the preferences of the authors as much as possible thereby also considering the contents of the paper and the capacity of the facility . The presentation preference expressed by the authors has no effect on the evaluation of the paper and its acceptance. The four different options for presenting the papers are:

Oral Presentation: 12 minutes presentation (each) + 3 minutes discussion (each) (room capacity: 140 seats).
Interactive Presentation: 1 minute semi-plenary teaser presentation (each) + 60 minutes interactive discussion (total) (Max 25 presenter in each session) with PDP TV (40”) to be provided (room capacity: 600 seats).
Interactive Demonstration: 1 minute semi-plenary teaser presentation (each) + 60 minutes demonstration & discussion (total) (required) / One day of demonstration (recommended) at the booth to be provided free of charge (Exhibition Hall)
Video Presentation: 1 minute semi-plenary teaser presentation (each) + 1~3 minutes of video presentation & 5 minutes discussion (total) / videos to be played repeatedly throughout the day at the IROS lounge (200 seats)
Highlight Presentation: 5 minute semi-plenary presentation (each) + 60 minutes interactive discussion (total)

To submit a regular paper to IROS 2016, authors are encouraged to follow the customary electronic submission process via PaperPlaza. Prior to the submission, authors should check their paper for PDF Xpress compliance and make sure that their paper agrees with the manuscript preparation guidelines. The file size of submitted papers is limited to 6MB. Links to LaTeX and Word templates are provided in the bottom of the page.

Optional multimedia materials such as videos, enhanced pictures, and audio files can be uploaded to supplement the submitted papers.  The supplementary file size is limited to 10MB (Max 1min play). The instructions for video attachments are as follows:

1) It is mandatory to use the most common media format (mpg, mpeg or mp4), and no special codecs are allowed for the portability across the platform.
2) The supplementary file can be uploaded within 7 days after the paper submission deadline.
3) After acceptance of the paper and when the authors have been assigned to make the video presentation, up to 100MB (Max 3min play/ but less than 20MB recommended for easy access) will be allowed for uploaded videos at the final paper submission. Final supplementary files also can be uploaded within7days after the final paper submission deadline.
4) Submission of videos only without a paper will be dealt with in the “Late Breaking Report” submission.

Camera-ready copies for accepted papers are expected to be six pages long. Authors can have up to eight pages if they pay a surcharge of US $180 per extra page. It is generally a good idea to respect these page limits at the time of initial submission. When authors upload the camera-ready version of an accepted paper, they will also have to provide a short summary that will serve to compile the conference digest. Further details about this will be posted on the Conference Web Site once the review process is underway.

Content of any submissions should be original and must not be submitted for consideration in any other conferences or journals. Submissions will be checked against plagiarism and self-plagiarism using the iThenticate tool provided by IEEE. Double submission policy violations will be checked with other conferences that have a parallel reviewing process. Possible violations will be reported to IEEE for further investigation.
