Introduction:
The student paper competition is now in its 9th year. Started in 1991, the competition is designed to encourage active student participation and reward outstanding work. The Student paper awards consist of a certificate as well as a monetary award and are a prestigious addition to the student's CV. All eligible students are encouraged to participate in this Student Paper Competition (see "Eligibility Requirements for Student Competition).
Student Paper Competition abstracts will be reviewed along with other contributed papers by the Technical Program Committee (TPC). At that time, the TPC will select 18 finalists (6 of Group I, and 3 of each of Groups II through V). The finalists will be notified and asked to produce a poster presentation which will be displayed during a special student competition poster session. The poster presentation is required for finalists (even if the student's paper has been selected as an oral presentation). The students should check the link, Poster Presentation Guide, for the poster preparation guidelines.

On the first day of the symposium, all Student Finalist Posters will be defended by their student authors at a special session. The finalists will be judged by a panel of distinguished researchers representing the paper's technical group. To recognize these outstanding contributions, the posters will remain on display for the duration of the symposium. From the group of 18 finalists, seven awards will be given for the best presentations.
