M.Sc. Michael Schwärzle
CV / Former activities
Michael Schwaerzle received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in microsystems engineering from the University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany, in 2009 and 2011, respectively. The main focus of his studies was on sensors and biomedical engineering. Between 2008 and 2012, he contributed to the development and characterization of intracortical neural probes as a Student Assistant in the Microsystem Materials Laboratory, Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK), University of Freiburg. His bachelor thesis, which was performed within the European project NeuroProbes, was entitled “Characterization of silicon microprobe array for electronic depth control in neural recording.” He performed his Master’s thesis work on neural devices for intracortical optical stimulation entitled “Characterization of neural optotrodes”. In June 2012 he started as PhD student with focus on the integration of optoelectronic components into neural devices for optogenetic applications.
